Simon Kofi Appiah

Kofi Appiah is a Catholic priest and a senior lecturer at the Department of Religion and Human Values, University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He holds a doctorate in theological ethics from the University of Tübingen, Germany, a Post-Graduate Diploma in psychology from the University of London, and Graduate Eligibility Status of the British Psychological Society. Kofi Appiah also holds a diploma in theology from the University of Ghana, and another in teaching in higher education from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Nairobi, Kenya. He has taught short courses at the Kofi Anan International Peace Keeping Training Centre in Accra, the Athenaeum of Ohio in Cincinnati, and Tangaza College in Nairobi, Kenya. Now at the University of Cape Coast, his areas of interest have been the study of religions and ethics. His current research project entitled Ghana Values Study explores the role of religion in the conceptualization and transformation of values in the search for culturally unique character strengths in Ghana. The study departs from other studies regarding Character Scaffolding from the perspective of positive psychology. He has also developed keen interest in the debate about knowledge production from the global south.
