Victor Miguel Castillo de Macedo
Victor Miguel Castillo de Macedo is PhD Candidate in Social Anthropology in the National Museum of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. His dissertation deals with the memories and the production of a notion of ex-combatant between former revolutionaries of the 1965’s Dominican Revolution in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In 2017 he worked as Visiting Researcher in the Dominican Studies Institute of the City University of New York, after being awarded the Archives and Library Research Awards. He has previous ethnographic research with Mozambican forestry engineering students at mobility programs in Southern Brazil. Currently he is working on a research project with Dominican migration stories of former 1965 combatants in the U.S. And an edited collection “Oxala: Afro-Latinxs Futures, Imaginings and Engagements” (SUNY Press) with Alline Torres and Joshua Deckman. The Global De-Centre platform is an inspiring initiative with the possibility to work with different scholars from diverse backgrounds. This is a plural environment that offers ways for young scholars across the world to share inspirations, strategies and ways to de-center and decolonize their own paths to academic thinking.
