Claire Ellis is a PhD student in Policy Studies, Migration Stream, at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). Her doctoral research examines the nature and scope of Canadian border policies in relation to irregular migration and the impact of border control instruments on the rights and experiences of refugees. She currently works at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Canada Excellence Research Chair in Migration and Integration, providing program coordination and research support. Claire also conducts research with a team at TMU on immigration border policy changes in Canada, analyzing the policy and human rights implications of these measures on irregular migrants and refugees. Claire currently serves on the Executive Committees of the Canadian Association for Refugee and Forced Migration Studies (CARFMS), Emerging Scholars and Practitioners on Migration Issues (ESPMI) Network, and the organizing committee for the 2021 International Association for the Study of Forced Migration (IASFM) Conference.
