Andreja Siliunas
PhD candidate in Sociology and Social Policy at Harvard University. Andreja Siliunas has a wide range of research interests, including nationalism and transnationalism, networks, social policy, organizations, and the sociology of art. Her dissertation examines how transnational relationships impact the production of national narratives. It is a case study of public art objects installed throughout Vilnius, Lithuania, since 1990, when Lithuania declared independence from the Soviet Union, and it asks how the movement of people, information, materials, funding, and ideas across national boundaries affect how the nation has been imagined in urban public spaces. Her other work examines social service providing agencies from a network perspective, considering how funding and other elements of social policy environments constrain public and non-profit organizations’ capacity to broker ties between people and organizations in the United States.
