Dr. Ali Qadir is Associate Professor of Sociology in the New Social Research Program and the Faculty of Social Sciences, Tampere University, Finland. His research and teaching focus on global governance, decoloniality, and Islam. He has published widely in these fields since his doctoral thesis exploring the postcoloniality of Muslim higher education in Pakistan. His most recent, co-authored book is Epistemic Governance: Social Change in the Modern World, published by Palgrave in 2019. He is currently working on a book project for Brill entitled Formations of Heresy: Ahmadiyyat and Islam, that draws on the thought of Talal Asad and Foucault. Dr. Qadir’s research continues to explore themes of decoloniality and postcoloniality with an emphasis on questioning the categories by which modern thought classifies, prioritizes, and excludes. These themes shape his involvement in the Global (De)Centre.
